Hi guys. Ive talked this over with MMA Guru and ive decided to start a mmacrypt.com fantasy football league.
I will be using ESPN.com software for it. It will be very legit with esn using all the weeks stats to determine each players score. So no funny business. If you are interested then leave a post inthis thread and i will further explain some things relating to the official draft times ETC.

There are 4 slots open as of right now. Ill update this post as the slots get taken up. Im really hoping we can get this thing going cuz FF is a VERY fun thing to do. ANy questions feel free to ask.

well i wathc football religiously but have NEVER done fantasy leagues. always wanted to, but never have.

ALright invites have been sent.

Disc, so do you know the gist of it? Heres a bare bones explanation. This isnt exactly the numbers in our league but close. You draft 4 qbs 6 rbs 6WRs , 2 defenses ETC. But each week you can only start 1 qb, 2 rb/wr 1 defense ETC. Its al about strategy. Yours may be study day in day out each player or some ppl just go on a whim and draft players they know. At the end of the day its about starting the right players that match up well against your opponent.

The draft will go from 1 thru 6 then 6 thru 1 with 120 seconds to make your pick. espn.com has software for that. So get your draft papers in order and have a few mock drafts of your own. ESPN has a podcast dedicated to fantasy football and giving advice week by week. its VEEERRYYY helpful. Fantasy football is a billion dollar industry so theres resources everywhere. so are you in discipline? ill help you out thruout.

Oh edit, to give you some confidence. last year was my first year and i was in a 24 team league and got 3rd place. I hadnt watched a FULL NFL game in years so i had no idea who CJ was or what position reggie wayne played. i just did my research drafted good and chris johnson and drew brees bailed me out. LOL.

Like i was telling guru, its gonna be a task to get us all on the espn.com/mmacrypt site at the same time. SO heres my idea, how about we do it on AUG 28th. the day of the UFC toney/randy. That way its a saturday, ppl will prlly be close to theyre computers and thats plenty of time to get your homework done. an input will be nice. Guru says ppl showed up for the mma draft so i hope we can pull this off. im still skeptical though.


EDIT: LOL fantasy hasnt even started yet but im already watching 2 games at the same time scouting the players. :) Ravens/panthers and saints/pats.

its the 29th. ANd its just like the real NFL draft but without rookies. You prlly wont get ur first choice @ every position. SO its gotta have all of us in it. I got a human draft on the 28th so the 29th it is. Theres a way you can just make a list and it picks for you but those dont end up so well most of the time.

DUde, last year i didnt even know what position reggie wayne played or who chris johnson was. Just do some homework a couple days before the draft and youll be fine. ALot of sports editors will start posting theyre mock drafts and you can use that as your skeleton for your own draft. PM me your email buddy and well get this shit GOIN! I do think that football is more America's sport than baseball though.

thanks alot guys for getting this done. ONly person that hasnt accepted the invite is Guru but i know hes busy.I asked him if he could get it done this weekend. So guys, i was thinking about August 29th 3:00 pm PST. So 6 in the east. This is just the first time im throwing out there so you guys can tell me if it works or not. Im really excited about this and discipline, and davie, you guys are in for a treat. If you thought football was fun to watch before, holy shit prepare to be blown away. Oh and no, im not exxagerating. =)

Now i gotta figure out a way to determine the draft order. In a human league we just draw names out of a hat. Any ideas? Ill go and check to see if espn has a draft order randomizer thingy.

EDIT: It does have a randomizer. But it consists of me pushing the "randomize" button. To keep it fair ill push the randomize button until it gives me the 3rd pick. Thats the most fair way of doing it. Its a snake draft which means, that the draft order will go 1 thru 6 then in reverse 6 thru 1. So in theory, 3 is no advantage whatsoever. So if ur still confused. the 6th pick will get the last pick in round 1 but the very first pick i round 2. So i need feedback from you guys. if you think of a better way to do the draft order let me know becasue i can use the randomizer or manually put them in.

Heres a protip guys. WHen you are creating your draft list, be VERY SURE to pay attention to your players bye weeks. That should be at the top of the list when drafting a player. You dont want half your team to be on bye in one of the weeks. For exaple when you pick a qb then thats pretty much gonna be ur qb all season so for your bench qbs especially your #2 qb make sure hes got a different bye week than your #1. Your bench players should be there to cover your first string on bye weeks. I played with a guy last year that had to use his 3rd string qb, and 4th rb one week. needless to say he failed miserably.

ALirght guys im here. THe names arent a big deal i guess. well all get to knw whos who after a while. THeres a positional cheat sheet that even i used yesterday in my human draft. ill link it below. If players dont show up then it should just auto pick. theres print out the positional cheat sheet and the top 200 cheat sheet and that should help. Save defenses and TEs for the very end unless you REALLY want em. RBs and WRS always go first but ive seen manning and brees drafted in the 1st and 2nd round as well.

they theyre supposed to do theyre custom ranking in case they cant draft then the comp just goes by how they ranked theyre players. But im sure it should still just draft autdraft for them with the espn rankings in mind.

so how do waivers work? ive heard guys at work talking about it. and what time does the lineup have to be submitted?

waivers work like if you wanna drop a guy and wanna pik up a free agent and someone else wants that same guy then depends on the waiver order(usually its the guy with the worse record) gets it first. But if no one else wants him, hes urs. Oh and you just gotta turn in ur starter before the game hes playing in starts.

If you place a guy on the bench that plays today(thurs) then you cant use him on sunday cuz he already played. SO if u forget to start ur guy in that played today then you missed out.

i guess it all depends on how you have your bye weeks set up. obviously that will change now, althoguh MIN just had their bye week this past week. so it may not effect you at all. one thing to keep in mind though is that hell be getting the ball thrown to him by a different qb, which hasnt looked all that great thus far. to each his own though.....

THeres very few things you can control in FF. the draft of course. Every year is a crap shoot in terms of players showing up or not. CJ was THE fantasy king last year blowing everyones numbers away and this year hes been ho hum compared. Drew brees, favre,sanchez,romo are just a few examples of being smart draft choices when you crunched all the numbers but they just didnt show up this season.

Theres all sorts of strategy is fantasy. SOme think its rocket science,others are way casual and some let theyre dog pick the lineup. They all seem work tho. thats the great part of it.

holy shit. i guess espn is doing 2 week playoffs this year. this is my first time with espn FF so i had no idea. THe championship is the same way. same opponent,2 weeks, biggest total wins.

srry guys had no idea. never heard of playoff format like this.

im not concerned with it this year. i stuck with it through the whole season but didnt expect too much with it being my first year. i enjoyed it so ill definately be down for next year, if they have a season as misfit said.

point total for two weeks. which is kinda cool. the guy in the lead can still blow it if theyre opponent comes up HUGE in the 2nd week.

I'm confused on the play-off bracket... the three teams that have lost in the initial play-off games are now out of the play-offs and there are only three of us left ?

The West conference players all won the initial play-off games and now go up against each other somehow ?

I think we needed to have 8 teams instead of 6 so that we didn't have an odd-man-out situation... but I guess I need some clarification on how this works.

The way it looks right now is that My team is going up against Tha Scarecro's team in the 2nd round of play-offs, and even though Discipline's team beat Arthur's team they play again in the 2nd round, and finally the two teams that lost two of their games are in the consolation bracket but are still in the play-offs !?

What exactly is a consolation bracket ?

consolation is a bracket for the teams that didnt make the playoffs or lost in the playoffs.. consolation means 3rd thru 6th place. its pretty much just so those who didnt do so well still have something to play for. I thought the bracket was pretty self explanatory.
