Arum: UFC is a load of garbage

BOXING promoter Bob Arum has launched a blistering attack on the UFC.

Arum, who represents pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao under his Top Rank banner, insists MMA fighters will never match up to stars of the sweet science.

Speaking to to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fanhouse, the 77-year-old blasted: "I've been to an MMA fight night and it's terrible.

"I admire Dana White and all the UFC guys as they've done very well.

"But for me it's junk, it's garbage.

"You've got guys rolling around on the ground and it's not a sport that shows great, great talent.

"The guys can't throw punches to save their ass and when a punch lands they've got no chin.

"They're not like boxers and aren't trained like them."

Arum has also played down talk that MMA and boxing are on collision course in the battle for viewers...

What he's basically saying is that... Mixed Martial Artists aren't boxers... and he is right.


"They're not like boxers and aren't trained like them."

They are not... they are mixed martial artists. Just like boxers(in general) can't grapple for shit. Can't defend the G&P either... this is of course highly individual ... this guy is some kind of dinosaur remnant critic type that's gonna die away from being proved wrong to many times :) What ever, he's the one wasting his time flaming!

So true, and didn't he already try to get into MMA already. :lol:

It won't be tomorrow but in time, MMA will have similar type of PPV numbers per event as boxing and it's not that far away.
