According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, the Firepower PPV featuring Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto reached 1.25 million PPV buys, making it the biggest selling event of the year.
In comparison, the Mayweather-Marquez fight came in at 1.05 million buys and combined with the Pacquiao-Cotto fight, 2009 marks the first time since 1999 that two events have gone on to record over 1 million buys. Those two previous '99 bouts were De La Hoya vs. Trinidad and Lewis vs. Holyfield I.
