The Supersized Samurai. Coming in at nearly seven feet tall and right around 300 pounds, Schilt has been routinely derided as a large, lumbering fighter that got by on his size and strength as opposed to any kind of technical prowess. Hopefully, now that Semmy has won his fourth K-1 Grand Prix title (tying him with the legendary Ernesto Hoost, against whom Semmy holds a 2-0-1 record, for most all time), those denouncing his skills will kindly blow it out of their ass. On the same night that Overeemrated went down in a heap of horse meat and shame at the hands of Badr Hari, Semmy Schilt once again reigned supreme.

Already he looks like an opponent for Lesner just by size alone.

Of course he would. But seriously, who wouldn't he do that to? Who would he actually stand up with? Its a good question I want to see Brock's chin tested. That is why the Carwin fight was huge for me.

The guy is huge 6'11" and 300 pounds Massive SOB, if he does have a standup game like they claim, personally I think the only reason he's won consistently in K1 is because of his size, no opponent stacks close to him, then him vs Brock would be a giant match I reckon, what do you think guys?

I think he would be way, way to slow for Brock's speed. Brock would easily be strong enough to drop him once he got in and getting in on this guy wouldn't be too hard. He's built for K-1 and is a great champ there, not built for MMA IMO. I think any strong, quick wrestler would eat him up, Cain, Carwin, Lesnar and even Mir now would be able to get him on his back. Guys that stand like Kongo, Barry, Rogers, AA and CC would have a bit of trouble with him. He's better sticking with K-1 where he can go down as one of the best ever. Partly due to his size but that's not his fault, he's still beating them left and right.

Schilt has definately fought in MMA, in fact, he's fought a who's who of MMA fighters over the course of his career. He began his career in the old-school Pancrase days, when names like Masakatsu Funaki, Bas Rutten, and Frank Shamrock still decorated that roster. A lot of people say "wait, Peter Aerts and Semmy Schilt are the same age, so why is Aerts so faded while Schilt is whipping ass?" ...well, the fact that Schilt began his professional fighting career in old-school Pancrase, while Aerts was getting brutalized in K1's golden age is a huge factor there.
Also...guess who Fedor fought in his first bout for PRIDE FC. Yeah...Semmy Schilt.

And he doesn't win because of his size, the guy has a K1 strategy like no other. He actually hearkens back to the days before FEG changed K1 to the three 3-minute rounds fights.
Anyway, to say that Schilt, four-time K1 World Grand Prix champion, doesn't have a real stand-up game doesn't really make sense does it. Hong Man Choi is like 7'1'', well over 300 lbs., and he's never won a GP has he?
Last but not least...ask Badr Hari if nobody stacks close to Schilt in K1. Badr Hari blitzed Schilt in a bout earlier in 2009.

schilt impressed me when he beat pete williams years ago but when kharitanov took him down and bashed his face in at pride it was horrible, some training on how to get out of your shoulders being pinned to the mat he can be real good in mma but lesnar may maul him on the ground.i think it shos how behing k-1 is,you have allistar overeem go beat the k-1 champion badr hari and legend peter aert's and big semmy win the k-1 grand prix 4 times is it now?i think he won it 3 years in a row.maybe it show's mma guy's do have good striking.

He had a couple of fights in the UFC early doors too, lost to Josh Barnett and beat Pete Williams!!! He's a quality kickboxer, but he hasn't evolved his game enough to be good in MMA. He's either too big for people to finish so they take a points win or if they have a decent ground game they will sub him,6 subs and 6 decisions out of his 14 MMA losses

Yeah Fedor and Kharitonov beat the leaving piss out of him. He must've said something bad about RUssians at some point haha.
Seriously though, Schilt is a bad dude. If you guys haven't seen the 2009 GP Finals, don't talk trash about him. He wrecked Hari in the final match, dropped him three times. One time he kicked Hari in the head and it looked totally effortless. It looked like he just lifted his leg up and popped Hari, and it dropped him and I thought he was out right there. Not to mention he whipped Remy Bonjasky AGAIN...in under three minutes no less.
