I actually love it when I'm doing it. I do think it's a great workout. It changes it up enough so I don't get bored with it, it's just getting my lazy ass to stick with it. But I think I got a good plan in place to give it another try. I'm not sure if it's worth the price, I didn't buy it. I think anything that expensive should have somebody come and get my lazy butt out of bed. I'm doing a thread like this to help motivate me. I will try posting to it every day I do the workout and stay on the diet. And would love to get called out if I haven't posted to it in a couple of days. I'm getting ready to do my first work out in about 30 minutes. I'm sure it will kill me but oh well.

It's not really a gym, just DVD's 13ish of them that help allow you to do a work out form home. I bought a set of resistance bands that work just fine. You don't need heavy weight for this workout at all. I would guess if you had a set of dumbells going up to 25# you would be just fine. I has 3 different programs, Classic, Lean and Doubles. I'm starting with Lean to lose some fat first. It's a 90 day cycle, 6 days a week and no more that 1.5 hours a day. Most days are under an hour but you do Yoga once a day that's an hour and a half. It's funny that I've finish every workout except the Yoga. I KICKS my ass every time and I don't finish cause it longer than everything else, I haven't even made it 50 minutes yet. :suicide1
But the 90 days is split up to 3 phases.
Phase 1 of the lean is 3 weeks of a pretty hard mostly cardio based workout with 1 week of a recovery workout. What's fucked up is the recovery week as two days of Yoga and 1 day of Stretch, these are my two worst programs of the set.
Phase 2 is a repeat of Phase 1 for the Lean workout, 3 hard weeks with one recovery week.
Phase 3 switches it up a bit. I hope to get there this time.

ok, day 1 done, did Core Synergistics, It's about 58 minutes total. I did finish it but crashed about 30 minutes in and for about the next 8 minutes only did half the length of each exercise. On top of that, for all the push ups, I did them from my knees, yeah girl push ups :D. And I didn't do any weight at all, everything empty hand. Once I finish the workout with doing all exercises, I will add weights to it. But the most I saw being used was 15 pounds, it's not really a heavy weight lifting program on this workout. It focuses on the core and cardio. Drinking a protein shake now and hoping for the best. I have Cardio X tomorrow and I'm sure it's going to hurt me also :D

Yeah I have the same problem, sticking with it. I got this home "gym" from GNC , it came with a pull up bar, an ab wheel, and a set of those perfect push up thingys. It also lays out this workout plan and tells you everything you need to do, about an hour workout 3 times a week. I started and did it for two weeks and then work started kickin my ass and the kids all had somewhere to be the same damn week, so yeah there went that. It was working my fat ass pretty good so I plan on pickin it back up. I'll keep you guys posted.

I did p90x awhile back, but then began training much more. To the point where I was at college from 11am to 2pm, running from 2:30-3:30pm, and training from 4pm to 9pm. I burned out after three months, but my cardio was fantastic! Haha... Now that I'm working, I should start this up again... It was good and I loved the fact I could do everything from home.

Very cool guys. Time for Day 2 and I'm actually really sore from day 1. On a 1 to 10 of sore, I would say upper body is about a 2 but lower body is in the 5 to 6 range. Today is the Cardio X program and I should be starting it in about 10 minutes. I think it's an hour from what I recall. Don't know if it will help loosen me up or make my vagina cry out in pain. :D

Ok, made it through Day 2. I was actually on 44 minutes but I forgot is start with a yoga warm up. It's funny that when I did this before, the Yoga program was by far the hardest on me. I would fail and get pwnd by Yoga quicker than all the others. Pretty damn sad to be honest. But oh well, I made it all the way. I won't say I looked great doing it, that would be a big ol lie. Left ham got a bit tight but I think I got shoulders, arm and abs tomorrow so I should be fine.

its similar to circuits imo. i havent tried it myself but ive had some friends do it and they had some pretty good success with it. its a great first step program imo.

03-16-2010, 05:03 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure how far it can take me to getting back in shape but it's not going to hurt. Tomorrow I get to do the Ab Ripper X and it's by far the best ab workout I've ever done. But it's been a while since I've done it and I'm sure I'll be whining like a little girl before, during and afterwards.

I just looked to see what tomorrows work out looked like and I hadn't done it before. It looks like it's really going to hurt me. I need to dig out my bands and get everything ready. I had always just used more of the cardio stuff before, now I'm actually sticking with what they recommend. So this will be my first time and it's about an hour total. I'm sure the vagina will be bleeding.

Misfit
03-16-2010, 05:46 PM
it could be ugly. I thinking about doing it the first time with no weights just to make sure or help make sure I make it through the program. There are still a lot of exercises that use body weight which I have plenty off :D so it's still going to be a work out IMO. But yeah, the more I think about it, no weights this first time and see how I do. I really want to make sure I do all 6 days this week and get a good start to the routine.
Discipline
03-16-2010, 09:41 PM
i think that is your best bet especially if its been awhile. the hard part is starting and keeping it going for a week. after that its cake, well not really but it does come easier.

Day 3 almost done, still need to knock out Ab Ripper X but did fine on the shoulders and arms workout. I didn't do any weight but did try to pump at the top and bottom of every rep and I did a few 16 reps but mostly 20 all the way. It was 15 different exercises done twice and took a full hour to do. I will use weight next time for sure. Don't think today was a wasted workout, did get a pump but it was on the easier side, that's for sure. It was a fun workout and seems to hit the shoulders and arms really well, I'm sure next Wed. I won't find it so much fun when I actually add weight to it but oh well. I did get a sweat going so I don't feel it was a complete waste.
Discipline
03-17-2010, 05:32 PM
man if you are moving around doing stuff burning calories its nevre a waste imo. keep it up man. after the first week or so its routine and you notice things pretty easy after the first week imo.

I did get my Abs knocked out. I did 12 reps while they did 25 on the program. I will try 14 reps next time. I think tomorrow is Yoga which has kicked my ass harder than any of the programs when I did it last time.
Discipline
03-18-2010, 02:26 PM
yea the yoga would be my toughest part. im not one to sit around and stretch for an hour. stretching is all good but for an hour its too much imo.
Misfit
03-18-2010, 03:32 PM
actually, it's a lot harder than just stretching, it actually kicks my freaking ass. Holding the positions just kill me, it's not a boring type of kill me, it's a "OH MY GOD MY PUSSY IS ON FIRE" whining type of kill me. And I get ready to start it in a few minutes. Not looking forward to this workout at all.

yoga or the P90X yoga. If you add the pushups like he does, it kills me but I'm also carrying a lot of body weight right now. I'm not saying it's a super hard workout, just saying it's a super hard workout for me :D It's weird, I do Silat for an hour, throw guys, get thrown and yeah, I'm tired but I'm guessing I'm going to be haten life within 15 minutes of starting this.
Discipline
03-18-2010, 04:28 PM

So, Day 4 is done. I just tried the One on One Yoga with Tony Horton who is the same guy that does the P90X stuff. It's a much shorter version, under 40 minutes. The P90X is over hour and half if I recall from my previous failed attempts at it ;) I have lots and lots of work before I even do the 40 minute version, again, it's just kills me. Something I'm not good at but at least I can see light at the end of the tunnel with the 40 minutes version. I get to do it once a week for the next 3 week and then twice on the recovery week. Maybe by the end of week 4, I might feel ok with it. We shall see.

yoga seems like somehting that iwould have to do for a while to get used to. my muscles dont flex quite like they used to. when i was early in high school i had lower back issues. long sotry short, i went to the dr. about it and he said it was due to my bones growing at a faster rate than my muscles. who knows, i still have issues with my back now but its not quite as bad. the only solution they said i could go with really was daily stretches. i do sometimes but not nearly enough.

03-18-2010, 06:41 PM
the p90x yoga might be really good for you then. Try to see if you can find some examples of it on youtube and try it at home. You might be surprised how much of an actually full body work out it really is. I look forward to the day I can do the whole thing really well.

Yes, welcome Vida. I have legs/back/abs today. Not sure how that's going to go, another program that I haven't done before but I'm going to use the weights/bands this time.
Discipline
03-19-2010, 03:02 PM
i never used bands until about a year or so ago nadi must say i really like them. they are kind of conveinent too considering i can do some minor stuff sitting in the damn recliner lol.
Misfit
03-19-2010, 03:05 PM
yeah, I actually love bands. I would say they are just as good as dumbbells for this workout. Easy to adjust the resistance but controlling the size of loop you are stepping on. I would much rather have the 3 bands sitting on the floor versus the X many sets of weights. They are perfect for working out at home.
Discipline
03-19-2010, 03:09 PM
yep. ive got a couple i do some things with around the house. and the best part is they actually work imho. resistance is a good thing.

well shit, it's 12:30 and I haven't worked out yet, I better knock this out now or I won't. It sucks that I have a legs/back day the same day I need to shovel a bunch of snow. Oh well, the sooner I start the sooner the vagina quits bleeding.

Misfit
03-19-2010, 09:14 PM
ok, just finished legs/back and abs. I went again an did the abs right away this time cause I don't think I'm up for working out again today. Now I'm killing a protein shake. I got 1 more day to do and that's Kenpo tomorrow which is just mostly cardio. It's a program I usually do pretty good at cause I'm used to throwing strikes but right now, my legs are like jello so you might hear about a bleeding vag again tomorrow. The legs part of today was really good but I don't have a pull up bar so back was a bit iffy. I was able to setup a band between the french doors of the office but even the heaviest band was a bit weak for me. So about 30 minutes, I put both of the heaviest band on and that worked much better. I'm sure if I start that way, I should be able to get a good back work out in. But overall, I'm freaking spent.
Discipline
03-19-2010, 09:25 PM
well if your spent that means you actually acomplished something. good job.
Misfit
03-19-2010, 09:28 PM
thank Disc, yeah, I'm spent for sure. When I used to rock climb, we would get tired and start doing what we called he sewing machine leg. You would have one foot on a hold and start pumping out, the thing would bounce up and down like a damn sewing machine. I got that today at the end of the workout doing calves. And my forearms are kinda the same way right now so I guess I got more back in than I thought. I also think it from working out 5 days straight which I haven't done in a long time.

Well, no P90X cardio today. I'm doing the P90X shovel my ass off workout instead. Have about 2' on top of the driveway. Maybe 3' on the left side of the driveway and about 6" on the right side of the driveway. I got a rough path shoveled down the drive on the right side. Still has a shitload of ice on it but once it warms up tomorrow, it should melt pretty quick. It's still snowing a bit and super windy so I'm not sure if it's going to help or hurt the drive. I've had it where the wind will damn near clean 90% of the driveway itself. don't see that happening this time but we shall see.
