Shawn Jordan vs. Ruslan Magomedov slated for UFC 192

    By Shaun Al-Shatti @shaunalshatti on Jul 30, 2015, 9:00p

A heavyweight bout pitting surging veteran Shawn Jordan against Dagestani prospect Ruslan Magomedov is the latest addition to UFC 192.

The Houston Chronicle first reported the bout.

Jordan (18-6), a native of Texas and former fullback for two LSU national championship teams, is currently enjoying the best success of his UFC career. Of late, the 30-year-old has racked up a trio of knockouts over Jack May, Jared Cannonier and Derrick Lewis, the last of which ended with a memorable hook kick finish this past June at UFC Fight Night 68.

Jordan has earned two 'Performance of the Night' bonuses over the course of his win streak.

He'll now meet Magomedov (13-1), a streaking 28-year-old who is undefeated thus far in his UFC career. Magomedov picked up back-to-back decisions over Viktor Pesta and Josh Copeland inside the Octagon, and his current run of eight straight wins includes victories over former UFC heavyweight champions Tim Sylvia and Ricco Rodriguez.

UFC 192 takes place Oct. 3 at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. The main card airs live on pay-per-view.

An updated UFC 192 fight card can be seen below.

Takeya Mizugaki meets George Roop at UFC Fight Night in Japan

    By Marc Raimondi @marc_raimondi on Jul 30, 2015, 11:00p

Takeya Mizugaki will attempt to get back on track in his home country.

Mizugaki, who has lost two straight, will meet George Roop at UFC Fight Night: Barnett vs. Nelson on Sept. 26 in Japan, the UFC announced Thursday. The event will be held at the famous Saitama Super Arena.

Mizugaki (20-9-2), who lives and trains in Japan, has been finished in his last two fights -- to Aljamain Sterling by submission and Dominick Cruz by first-round TKO. It is the 31-year-old's first losing streak since 2007. Mizugaki, a perennial bantamweight contender, won five in a row before his current skid.

Roop (15-11) has lost two of three and is coming off a knockout loss to Rob Font at UFC 175 back in July 2014. The lanky, 6-foot-1 135-pound has not competed since then. Roop, 33, does have three wins in his last five fights going back to 2013.

UFC Fight Night 76 is headlined by a heavyweight scrap between Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson. In the co-main event, Gegard Mousasi takes on Roan Carneiro.

Has anyone ever noticed that they have a tendency to throw cans at guys when they're fighting at home? Just saying.....

Bit surprised Jordan didn't get a higher profile bout against someone like maybe Roy Nelson.........this could be a tough one for him, he has 5 minutes to win IMO, then after that the Russian will just wear him down and win a decision.

They do it a bit with Canada reecntly. They've given Cote a couple easy fights on Canadian soil recently. And they seem to be doing the same with the TUF guys that stuck around, like Aubin-Mercier, Chad Laprise, Theodorou, Taleb, etc.

Nothing wrong with ensuring you keep the local market happy, just as long as they do step up the level of competition eventually, and with Mizugaki they always do.......as with most guys. It's nowhere near the level of boxing where guys can have 15 fights against cans, in the UFC at least it's usually 1 or 2, then a legit challenge.
