    Ah, yeah, fair enough
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Not a fighter (obviously) but the UFC is letting Jimmy Smith go at the end of his contract (expires end of 2019)...at least that is how it appears on twitter

Not all that surprising really, they've barely used him.

Smith is very similar to Rogan in speech and sound without Rogan's knowledge...but I'd keep him around for all N.A cards that Rogan doesn't do....assuming Smith would stick around for that gig

I like Smith, and he should be used more...….but they seem to want to use fighters in his role, as they've done really. Rogan only does about 8 cards a year now, so it seemed like there was plenty of room for Smith, but they've just not used him.

Looked to see if anyone had commented, didn't see any posts on Sage Northcutt being released.

Saw it a bit ago, was kind of surprised, as they had seemed to put quite a bit of focus on him as a rising prospect. Dana made some comments like Sage needed to fight some lower level competition and maybe come back around to the UFC at a later date, but I just looked at his record, and Sage won his last three fights, not usually the path to losing your job. Saw an article earlier this evening where Sage actually said he was not released, his contract was up, and he was made a better offer by OneFC, and the UFC chose not to meet or beat that offer.

Not that Northcutt came off as a brain surgeon or anything, but I did read he was an engineering student before going full time with MMA. He's a great looking kid, definitely recognized as a promoter's dream, as I think he had wide appeal being so young, an all American boy type, the kind of image girls could love him and young guys might want to be him. Sounds to me like money came into it, and Sage went for the cash. Can't blame him for that, as an athlete's life is often brief in sport, and you gotta make it while you can. Again, kind of surprised they just let him walk, but as several of you guys have commented, the organization since the buyout has been taking a different approach to breaking and promoting new talent, and I guess they ran the numbers and figured Sage wasn't worth future investment...

I think the real issue for the UFC is that he was being paid way more than a fighter of similar talent to him. They went big and hoped he'd fly to the top very quickly, but in reality they ended up needing to constantly have him fight low level talent for him to beat, that's the only reason he went 3-0 in his last 3 fights. Dana clearly lying about his reasons for 'cutting' Sage though, more likely they went low with their offer so Sage sat out the exclusive period and got paid well in ONE. Fair play to the kid, and it really is the best place for him too. They have NO 170lb fighters effectively, so he'll be matched up well, likely win well too and come back to the UFC in a few years with a strong negotiation hand too.

I would suspect Sage will get a lot of "beefed" up 155'ers

More than likely, and also low level 170lb fighters. He'll rack up easy wins, highlight reel footage and come back in a couple of years...….maybe to the UFC, but Bellator will also be watching with interest.
