Can see this as another feeder organization, similar to WSOF One FC and others out there, who may offer developing fighters a venue in which to hone their skills and be seen, while also giving veterans on the way down an opportunity to continue fighting and trying to make a dollar.

Wondering how this will work in terms of pro fighters trying to make a living in MMA. For one thing, it's only a total of 72 athletes, so it's a very small promotion. Then they have a "season", leading to "playoffs", and then a championship, the six winners of which apparently share in a multi-million dollar pot. Does that mean these 72 fighters are under exclusive contract, paid a salary through the year allowing them to train and progress, while paying their bills as professional athletes? Can they fight in other orgs in the off season? Thinking there would also have to be provisions for injury, alternate spots for fighters to step in, when, not if, tournament competitors get hurt.

Interesting idea, and if they can put on some compelling, competitive fights, I'm all for it. An chance for an entertaining brawl, I'm in. I'm seeing more and better fighters and fights from smaller orgs and even from regional/local promotions, so if these guys can pick up some talented well trained athletes, I'll definitely check it out.
It is interesting as an idea.......but the biggest issue they have is doing a seasonal, league type thing.......MMA has never worked under that structure, mostly because it prevents the company from booking the fights people want to see. Hopefully it bucks the trend, but I have my doubts.

Agreed, if they can follow through with the money, they might actually have a chance of building something. Still think the tournament format is a killer for them long term though.

Long term I agree, but it has great potential short term. I think we'll see them abandoned this format after a couple seasons and go the more traditional route......assuming the 1st season actually is successful and fighters get paid

Well, Leslie Smith has been paid her show and win money for the cancelled Aspen Ladd fight($62k).......and that ends her contract with the UFC, and she's now a free agent! Looks like the UFC are worried about her unionising efforts with Project Spearhead.

Yair Rodriguez is saying he did accept fight with Zabit but asked for more money and UFC said no. Not sure how I feel about that, considering he has a contract. Time to ask for more money is during negotiations of renewing the contract. And really asking for more money to fight Zabit... isn't accepting the fight. In fact I'd go to far as to say asking for more money to fight someone is basically turning down the fight so it looks like it's the UFCs fault and not yours.
